Hitting the Third Trimester in pregnancy is a milestone! It means you are almost there, the finish line is ahead and the countdown begins. It also means, for some, another phase of symptoms and first. The first time you get heartburn, the first time you need help getting your butt out of a chair, the first time you notice stretch marks. And for me the first time my normally petite fingers turned into giant sausages. I was rocking the 2nd Trimester Glow and just like that, week 27 hit and boom, I went from Glow to Swoll! A little swollen finger is no big deal. In fact it's one of the things pregnant women should expect in there glowing journey towards motherhood. That is why many advise when you feel you are retaining some water you remove your wedding rings and other jewelry. I am always such a rebel and left that rock on my finger. Now all I can think about is will this ring ever come off? And at what point do I quit the joking and start panicking?

If you find your fingers swollen like Johnsonville Sausages and cannot remove a ring, here are some pro tips:

Windex

Spray your finger with Windex and turn the ring and try to slip it off. You may want to soak your finger in a ice cold bath before hand. Check out my windex attempt:

The Floss

A much more invasive method. Create corset around your finger and try sliding the ring of. Have a partner help you with this. Brian tried this the other day. It obviously didn't work. We both were a little panicked I've never felt my pulse beat so hard in my finger before.

Elevate Overhead with Ice Around The Finger

I will try this one tonight and keep you all posted on the success. ;)

If all of these fail, try to keep calm. Hydrate, sleep on your left side and pray your finger doesn't fall off! All kidding aside guys I really do need to get this puppy off. I have a feeling I am only going to get bigger and bigger. Stay tuned. The Swollen Finger Saga to be continued.

Cheers,

Melissa Michael
