I think we will name the baby COVID

Some women have a name for their little girls and boys picked out since they played house with their cabbage patch kids, some couples have a namesake that is predetermined and some couples have no idea what to name their little bundle of joy and go days in the hospital debating. There's a lot to a name and there are 100's okay 1000's of names to choose from.

Countless google searches, brainstorming and just when you think you have a winner; your husband needs to agree. It doesn't stop there. If you share your possible baby names with friends and family you run into an entirely different shit storm. I think we will name him Saint. My Mom, calls back a few minutes later laughing, "I totally get your joke now, Saint Michael, that's hilarious." First trimester hormones rage and I yell, "It's not a joke!". Realizing she has point, it's back to the drawing board.

My niece's name is Coco. It fit's her personality so well and she stunning and she pulls of the name Coco. Now if she decides to gain 100 pounds and get a buzz cut, Coco might not fit so well. I had Coco and her family over for dinner around the holidays. And I mentioned the name Mercy. I thought this hip group would embrace my creative juices and love the name. Coco's Dad replied, "I don't like anything to edgy. " I found this shocking, coming from a hair stylist who named his daughter Coco. He too, has a point, Mercy is edgy.

Another conversation with a dear friend, and we shared that Ruby was a big contender. He replied, "Why don't you name her Diamond or Opal". Now, I replied, "Ruby is a very traditional name, and I really like it." He rebutted, "So is Karen." Another name bites the dust.

Last but not least our friend Ken called ecstatic. He couldn't wait to share the name of the Decade. "I think you should name the baby Covid." Brilliant! I wonder how many babies will be named Covid in the year 2020? Certainly not my baby. But that brings me to my next question for all of you. What do you suggest we name our baby if it is a girl? No boy name suggestions are necessary. We already have that one picked out. And NO, I am not telling you. I have learned my lesson. But please share in the comment section your favorite girl name for Baby Michael.

Cheers!

Melissa Michael
